It Just Doesn’t Matter (What Others Think About You, That Is…)

How To Not Care What Others Think Of YouHave you heard of Christoph Waltz? Brilliant actor. I loved him in Quentin Tarantino’s Inglourious Basterds.

I love fine actors like that who deliver unforgettable performances that nourish the soul.

But you wanna know what I don’t love as much?

Celebrities. Celebrities like those who pull a “Do you know who I am?” attitude or who are famous for just being famous, not for any true talent.

But even celebrities can teach us something…

There is something about celebrities that I kinda admire, however. And that is their ability to seemingly ignore all of the negative things that others say (or think) about them. How To Not Care What Others Think Of You

Like Allyn Rose, Miss District of Columbia, who said, during a CNN interview, that people had criticized her for announcing right before the Miss America Pageant her decision to have a preventive double mastectomy.

“There will always be naysayers when you put yourself in the public eye,” Allyn said. “You just have to ignore them.”

That’s what we all want to do, right? Ignore the naysayers? But how…

How to stop caring so much about what others think of you…

It’s easy to get caught up in what others think about us, but here’s where it pays to pay attention to celebrities. How can those of us, who are not in the public eye, ignore the naysayers? Here are a few tips…

:: Prioritize what YOU think of yourself over what others think of you.

How much weight are you giving other people’s thoughts versus your own? When you find yourself paying too much attention to what others think of you, remind yourself – by either saying or thinking to yourself – It just doesn’t matter! Be like a celebrity – ignore the tabloids.

How To Not Care What Others Think About You:: Ask yourself if they’ve walked in your shoes.

Chances are, they haven’t. I love what author and blogger, Jai Stone, says: “Until you know my journey, you are NOT qualified to judge me!” You wouldn’t hire someone with zero prior experience for a job, right? Well, don’t allow the thoughts of someone with zero experience in your shoes to take over your mind. Every time you catch yourself preoccupied with what others are thinking about you, actively remind yourself that they’re probably not qualified to judge you.

:: Replace the naysayers with positive-sayers.

Instead of getting caught up with what the naysayers are thinking or saying, remind yourself of what all of those people who love you are thinking or saying. As hard as it may be, it’s a choice where to focus our minds. Stay focused on the positive-sayers.

So, grab those Christian Louboutins and walk down that red carpet as if the only care in the world is yours…because when it comes to caring about what others think about you, your opinion is the only one that should turn heads.
