Actually, we’re all beautiful. But, for some of us, the road to loving ourselves − and I mean loving every single thing about ourselves, even the “maybe not so great” things − can be a bit more curvy than straight.
But that’s OK. In fact, it’s better than OK. It’s beautiful.
Because, while natural confidence is admirable (and perhaps even enviable), there’s just something about the kind of confidence and self acceptance that’s earned, that you’ve had to work for…through overcoming adversity and challenge (things I’ll be writing about much more later).
That’s why I love this performance by Jennifer Hudson of I Am Here (from the play, The Color Purple) so much. And why I wanted to share it with you this week. Not only is Jennifer’s voice truly magnificent (like standing ovation-magnificent), but the message is so incredibly poignant – about someone finally finding her voice and announcing to the world, “I’m beautiful, and I’m here.”
Enjoy! Trust me, it’s wonderful. (The Kennedy Center Honors always are!) Make sure to watch ’til the end, or you’ll miss the message (the middle and the end are especially powerful!)…and don’t forget to comment below!
Now, it’s your turn! Share with me in the comments below:
No questions this week…I’d just love to know whether you loved the performance as much as I did! Share with me and others in the comment section below!
